HEN PARTY DINNERS

Depending on the size of the hen party there maybe quite a few guests who have legitimate reasons as to why they cannot attend afternoon activities or join in a full weekend of fun.

That is why the hen party dinner is so important. It is the one time during the whole event where all the guests can get together and swap stories, give presents and play some hen party games. If the maid of honour does nothing else but organise a memorable meal then she will have done a good job.

When organising the meal be sure to consider the following points

1. Type of Restaurant : The key point to bear in mind here is whether or not the restaurant you fancy is appropriate. The Bride to Be may have a  favourite spot but is it suitable for a hen party? If you have booked a weekend away chances are the organisers of the afternoon activities can also arrange  the meal but if that is not the case then you need to be 100% sure at the time of booking that the restaurant you select welcomes hen parties. It would be a  disaster if entry was refused on the night itself.

2. Check : If possible visit the restaurant you plan to use. In most cases the restaurant will be familiar to the wedding party and may have been used by  friends but it is always best to leave as little as possible to chance.

3. Seating Plan : This will be discussed in greater detail in a future post but when booking a restaurant try to think of the seating plan. How many guests will there be, do you want to be in the centre of the restaurant or at a quiet corner, are any special arrangements required.

4. Don’t forget to plan the decorations and hen party accessories. Restaurants that welcome hen parties will have no problem with helping you arrange all the accessories that go with a hen night.

For anyone with limited experience of hen parties it is vital they understand the importance of organising a memorable meal. It is the one time when all the  guests will be together with the Bride to Be at the head of the table.

BABY SHOWER THEMES

The first step in planning a baby shower is to choose the theme because the theme will determine everything else from the location, to the games, decorations and menu.

There is a huge number of themes that you can choose from but the main thing to keep in mind is to plan a memorable
and entertaining shower. A clever theme, unusual location or a few games can lift the party from a mundane event to a special occasion.

In the next few posts we will look at

1. Family parties
2. Women only parties
3. Men only parties
4. Mixed parties

Before going into the details there is one general point that should be bourne in mind. It is totally acceptable to share the burden of hosting a baby shower with friends and family. Sharing the workload and cost will help ensure that it is an enjoyable event for everyone.

BABY SHOWER – INTRODUCTION

There is no shortage of events that can be used as an excuse to host a party and one of them is most definitely the impending birth of a child. A baby shower is a happy occassion and a chance to share the  couple’s joy and excitment.

Once the baby arrives it maybe quite some time before they have the time, money and energy to participate in social
events. A baby shower is a perfect opportunity to pamper the guests of honour one last time !

Originally baby showers were low key affairs attended by women only but in recent years some new trends have become apparant. These include

1. More participation by men. Daddies are becoming more involved in all aspects of raising children and that includes the  baby shower.

2. Some parties are given exclusively for the daddy to be, which are often planned by close friends or work colleagues. These can take the format of one last night on the town or over a lunch hour.

3. The only rule for baby showers is that there are no rules. The shower can be hosted by anyone, friend, relative or colleague. In  many cases the event is co-hosted which is much less stressful and costly than doing everything single handedly.

In this section of our blog you will find plenty of ideas guarantted to make your baby shower a success. Everything from party themes to invitations, decorations and menus is covered.
